Hey y’all!
So you remember when I mentioned in my last post that I have a new WIP (work in progress) that I’ve been wanting to share with you? Well, I’m about to do just that. So sit back, relax, maybe get a hot cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy reading about the book that I am planning on publishing soon!
My new book will be a children’s novel (we always called them “chapter books” but I don’t think that’s the correct term). It is the story of a little girl, Ann, who grows up amidst the Great Depression and WWII. She has three older sisters and one younger brother, and they live happily on a farm in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas.
After her father dies when she is still young, Ann’s mother remarries a man who has seven children, six still living with him. So Ann grows up with many, many siblings who are always getting into trouble and finding fun ways to entertain themselves on their farm. Barn swings, playhouses, hide-and-go-seek, paper dolls, etc. If its from the early twentieth century, it is probably in this book someway or another.
This is the story of Ann, growing up as one of the youngest children in a large family, trying to find what she wants to do with her life, and trying to find how she can be unique in her family. The story follows Ann from two years old until she gets married, and what adventures she has in her early life!
This story follows closely with my great-grandmother’s childhood. She always wanted her childhood to be made into a book, so I am currently working on making her dream come true. I hope that I can get this story printed and published by early next year (who knows, maybe this time next year I’ll be a true, published author. EEEEEEEK!!)
I am so excited to finally be able to share that with you guys! I just have one problem, and maybe you can help me out with it. It might be a personal problem, though. I am having trouble picking a name for the story. It must be a children’s novel-type name, but other than that I have no other requirements. I actually have some ideas for names, which are currently being discussed between the voices inside my head, and when I (they) come to an agreement, I will let you know. Otherwise, I might be asking for some help deciding on the name.
Thanks to you all, and hope you have a blessed rest of the week.
Love from the Library,
Ari D.
Oooo!!! I love it! I love it so much! That sounds like such an incredible story. I’d read my heart out of a story like that.
